First Complaint: Headrests

Our first complaint seems kind of cheesy. But if you ride in a JK, you will probably understand.

The headrests seem to have a rockwell hardness of about 75. Additionally, they are tilted forward to a point where they almost touch your head while sitting normal. The fact that you can lean your head back just a little and relax on the headrest is nice, until you hit a bump. As soon as you hit a bump and your head hits the headrest it sucks. I don’t think I have ever felt a headrest this hard.

We aren’t all complaints… There is a good thing about the headrests. In the back seat of the 4 door models, when you fold the seat forward the headrests fold back automatically when they hit the front seat. This works a lot better than the system on our WJ.

If you know why Jeep makes them like this, let us know in the comments.

It seems like a good aftermarket product would be better headrests.

Because they’re not headrests. They’re there for rear impact, not resting your head…never were for that purpose.

Wheel it. Stop resting your head on them.

I have an ‘07 JK (Sahara) and I love it. BUT, you are bang on re the front headrests. As my wife said, the airbag might save your front, but the back of your head will be cracked by one of those babies. I, too have wondered about the safety reasoning behind these rock-hard headrests. Maybe DC thought the ‘07 JK was just too comfortable and needed a little more jeep discomfort! (Other than that, I love the JK and look forward to the aftermarket getting stuff out).

so i guess what you guys are saying is that there are no aftermarket headrests as of yet…… i am going to search for them i have already found heated seats at seatheater.com and heatedseatkits.com….. if anyone finds headrests please let me know i would rather a soft padding that is adjustable when someone crashes into the back of me than those rock hard pads

I agree, What was jeep thinking when a person needs to drive the jeep for over 2 hours to get it to a place to start to have fun. An hour without resting your neck alittle bit has the driver not happy by the time has gets to start to play. If anyone has any ideas on replacements or how to fix these let us all know.

I am new to this site and can’t find any information regarding the 07 Jeep Sahara tops. I realize my question has nothing to do with headrests so if someone can guide me to the correct place I would appreciate it.
I just bought a new four door Sahara yesterday and would like to know if I should attempt to remove the soft top that is bolted down in the back of my Jeep or let the service department do this for me? How difficult is it to remove this top? I wish to store the soft top in my garage until I’m ready to use it.
