Welcome to the first post of our project.

2007 Jeep Wrangler

We have just acquired a 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited X. It’s a pretty base model with the S package, hard top, auto trans and SIRIUS radio. The goal is to make this Jeep more capable than a Rubicon package for less money.

So far, the plans are for:

We are looking for suggestions for other mods including bumpers and wheels. Please leave your suggestions as a comment on this article.

The ant for sirius is mounted in the rear portion of the jk somewhere. It suck when something is covering the back portion of the jeep ie drivethrus.

As for ideas about bumpers I would look into jeeperman’s bumpers. The rear bumper can be ordered to allow for a fixed rear winch and give a bumper mounted tire carrier. In my opinion would be better suited for larger spare tires.

A Dana 44 with a locker, 4.10 gears, and disc brakes will penalize you $5 grand a pop in the after market world. Dana 30s and 35s are only good up to a 33inch tire no mater what superior axel makes for them. If you are going to run 37s you might want to replace you knuckles too and hope it all holds together. Superlift makes a good lift for the masses, but if you are looking to take a jeep off road a Rubicon Express or a Teraflex lift will be the better choice. I grew up running the famous Lake Tahoe trail, and have been in this sport, this thing, this addiction for 12 year and have had 3 Jeeps (1 TJ and 2 CJ5s). I my tainted opinion, the 6 large that a Rubicon cost over an X is a more than a good deal, and makes for a better starting platform. Good luck.

The Bestop High Rocker is one of the best looking bumpers I have seen and with the roller on the bottom gives just that little extra.

I just bought a 07 JK unlimited and just my own opinion purejeep carries the most pratical bumper package.

The front bumper from http://www.aev-conversions.com is kick ass. Has factory styling and an intigrated winch and uses the factory fog lamps. They also have a skid plate to replace the plastic one under this bumper. Nice product, comes out in Jan. 07.

I agree completely about the headrests. These almost kept us from getting one (wife couldn’t get past the discomfort). If you find a good aftermarket replacement please let me know (**e-mail address removed for security**). Thanks.

I’m really impressed with everything Poison Spider Customs is doing. Great looking stuff, and really looks like some quality equipment. And of course there’s the “Bad Ass” factor you get with all their goods!

i would suggest go to poision spyder customs and contact them and ask when they will be coming out for a trail rated front stinger bumper for your jeep. Those bumpers look good and it protects your hood and your radiator in case of roll over. Theres my 2 cents.

I’m looking for a front bumper with a brush guard for my 2007 wrangler x that retains the factory fog lamps. Is there anything out there yet ?

Hi everyone. I just purchase a jk rubicon about a month ago. I hate to report that I broke the right front outer shaft.
Does anyone know if I can use the older outer shaft from the TJ? I am willing to buy this axle shaft from anyone with superior shafts installed.

    thanks in advance

PS It was my fault, too much gas pedal with an undercut boulder against the right tire.

I just found this area to post my question after posting it in the headrest section.
I would like to get information on removing the soft top that’s bolted in the back of my 07 Sahara. I just bought the vehicle yesterday and am not ready to use the soft top. Removing this top looks difficult and I don’t want to damage anything. Apparently, the hard top has to be removed first and I’m wondering if I should just let the service department do all of this for me.
    Any advise?
    Thanks

Why the edit!! from 4.88 to 5.13. Was the 4.88 not aggressive enough?
