The Dana 30 is a very common front axle in Jeeps of all kinds. It has also been used in other applications such as Broncos and Scouts. There is a carrier break at the 3.54 / 3.73 ratios. If you are switching from a ratio on one side of that break to a ratio on the other side you will need a new carrier to install the ring and pinion.

Yukon ring and pinion gears are put through the most rigorous development in the industry. Each ring and pinion is made from 8620 triple alloy (chrome-nickel-moly) steel. Computer controlled machining is followed by the latest gear cutting technology and superior heat-treating. Yukon finishes each gear with extra lapping for an ideal contact pattern and smoother, quieter operation.
