With the continued growth in world Motorsports popularity, automotive aftermarket manufacturers and race fans have asked for the safety and reliability of race type products in a form legal for use both on and off the road. Skyjacker® has gone to the forefront of the industry and recognizes the critical nature of hydraulic brake lines, especially for the predominately heavy four-wheel drive vehicles.

Larger, heavier tire and wheel combinations, a lot of torque combined with more horsepower often equates to faster starts with hard stops. This puts a greater strain on your vehicle's hydraulic braking systems. The stock rubber hoses may also over expand under these additional strains & pressures. After adding a suspension lift, there is also a 'length' factor to calculate for in these vehicles. The factory hoses may often be too short.

Stainless Steel Braided Brake Lines for many popular vehicles in various lift height configurations. All have been tried and tested in the upper echelons of off-road Motorsports in some of the most severe conditions four wheeling has to offer in virtually every corner of the world. They all passed the test and are proven in their quality of engineering, workmanship and finish. Skyjacker brake lines conform to all federal requirements of FMVSS106, making them D.O.T. Certified and T.U.V. Approved in Germany.

Skyjacker® Extended Length D.O.T. Stainless Steel Braided Brake Lines are constructed from a smooth bore PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) inner hose with a Stainless Steel outer braid with a PVC / PU coating extruded onto the outside of the hose. PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) has the lowest coefficient of friction of any plastic and allows unrestricted flow without deposit build-up. PTFE moisture retention is less than 0.01% and it has an infinite shelf life. Even after thousands of hours of flex cycle testing, PTFE convoluted shows no failure or fatigue. These chemical features add up to consumer safety.

The lightweight and extremely flexible PTFE (3.4mm ID) hose strongly resists expansion under high pressure and temperature. It also provides consistent brake pedal pressure giving firmer and more efficient operation without that 'spongy' feeling. A portion of the "spongy" feel of brake pedals can be attributed to expansion of the rubber flex brake lines. As brake system pressure increases, the lines expand, letting the pedal travel more. These stainless line kits prevent expansion, thereby giving a much firmer feeling pedal. They also do not deteriorate with age. Additionally, the PTFE inner tube is compatible with all brake fluids.
The inner hose is armored with Braided Stainless Steel for added protection from the off-road elements (flying rocks, out-reaching snags & stumps). Skyjacker uses AISI 304 wire (0.190mm gauge) that is hard drawn to a Tensile range between 115/125 Tons of Tensile Strength. This heavy-duty armor also creates a protective shell from another potential brake hose enemy...chafing. If the brake hose is not properly routed, the friction caused by constantly rubbing back & forth will wear away with other hoses. To combat this enemy, Skyjacker® offers specific vehicle applications matched with the appropriate extended length to ensure the proper routing. In many instances, relocating mounting brackets are included to guarantee a proper fit and to eliminate the threat of damage or chaffing.

Skyjacker® Extended Length D.O.T. Stainless Steel Braided Brake Lines have further protection over and above some of the other brands in the industry. They use PVC / PU as a 'supplementary skin' over the Stainless Steel braided line. This additional skin shields the hose from dirt, mud and grime that could otherwise penetrate in-between the braids and hose. As the braid moves back and forth, the dirt could abrade the hose without this extra coating. The Skyjacker's PVC / PU coating is .185 thick and extruded onto the outside of the hose during the manufacturing.

PVC (Polyvinylchloride) and PU (Polyurethane) are thermoplastic compounds. These combined compounds illustrate true benefits to the consumer’s safety and product’s durability.

Skyjacker's exacting specifications swage fittings are designed to offer all the performance needed with superior lasting benefits. Each fitting has been precisely engineered and manufactured to operate in the most severe environments. All Skyjacker® brake lines go through a 9-Point quality assurance testing procedure including tinsel strength and pressure testing to 3,000. Their unique swage tail design fittings and unique method of attachment are the keys to the products success in testing. The tests include:

• Quality Test - Visual Inspection of the PFTE inner hose & Stainless Steel braiding for any imperfections or blemishes
• Bursting Strength Test - The hoses must withstand a hydraulic pressure of 5,000 psi.
• Flex Test - Hose runs continuously in a machine for 1,000,000,000 cycles at the minimum bend radius.
• Tensile Test - All hoses must withstand a minimum pull of 325 lbs. without failure.
• Water Absorption Test - After submersion in water for 72 hours, the Burst, Flex & Tensile Tests are run again on the hoses.
• Cold Test - The hoses are conditioned in a ‘cold box’ in the straight position for 70 hours at -65 to -70 Degrees Fahrenheit. They must then be bent around a 3 inch mandrel without cracking or breaking.
• Ozone Test - The hoses are exposed to 140 Degrees Fahrenheit for 70 hours without showing forms of cracking when viewed under a 7-Power magnification.
• Salt Spray Test - After 24 hours of exposure to Salt Spray, the hose end fittings will not show any base metal corrosion.
• 100% Pressure Test - Before shipping, each hose is pressure tested with a liquid at 3,000 psi for 10 to 25 seconds to ensure customer performance.

Skyjacker's brake lines utilize Zinc Plated Carbon Steel fittings in swaged. Swaging is a process that is used to reduce or increase the diameter of tubes and/or rods. This is done by placing the tube inside a die that applies compressive force by hammering radially. Placing a mandrel inside the tube and applying radial compressive forces on the outer diameter can further expand this. Thus, the outer diameter can be a different shape, for example a hexagon, and the inner is still circular.

These hoses fit 1997-06 Jeep Wranglers with 4-8" of lift and 1984-01 Cherokee XJ's with 3-8" of lift.
