Product Description

1969-72 Chevy/GM pickups use a straightforward, durable, and relatively maintenance-free suspension design: solid axles front and rear suspended from the frame by leaf springs. The front and rear axles attach to the bottom of the leaf springs.

Generally, a 4" lift makes adequate room for 33" diameter tires, while a 6" lift provides the extra clearance needed for 35" tires.

Rear Lift - Using lift blocks is the most popular and economical method for lifting the rear of these GM vehicles.

Steering - This vehicle steers via a drag link that connects the steering box to the front axle knuckle. As ride height is increased, so is the distance between the steering box and knuckle, resulting in an increased drag link operating angle. With 4" of lift, excessive link angle can cause the vehicle to dart and drift. These bad steering traits are magnified as lift height increases. At 6" of lift, correcting link angle is a must, not an option. Failure to do so may lead to drag link end overextension (exceeding the end's ability to pivot) and failure.

Superlift offers three different steering correction products for ˝-ton and 3/4-ton vehicles equipped with a Dana 44 or 10-bolt front axle. One option is a 3" tall, cast ductile iron steering block that spaces the factory steering arm away from the knuckle. The most popular option is replacing the factory steering arm with a new forged arm that provides 4" of correction. The remaining option is to replace the factory drag link with Superlift's "dropped" drag link, which also provides 4" of correction. The replacement link is the best fix; it delivers the best steering characteristics, but it costs considerably more than the new steering arm. The new drag link is definitely the most logical route if your factory link is worn and needs replacing anyway. Options for the 1-ton Dana 60 axle (with a 4-bolt steering arm) are a 3" steering block and the 4" dropped drag link.

Lastly, consider these finishing touches… Superlift offers extended length Department of Transportation (DOT) approved rubber brake hoses, steering stabilizers, and dual shock kits. 4WheelersSupply.com includes the following parts with this kit: front springs, rear lift blocks or replacement rear springs, brake line relocation kit, polyurethane bushings, 8 u-bolts, and 4 Superlift Superride shocks w/ boots.
